About Christy Renkawitz, head teacher
I am driven to be an advocate for children by helping them to learn, grow, and succeed. I offer my warmth, patience, creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication. As a parent of two PNS graduates, I can say with confidence that this is an amazing school, where children are given the opportunity to thrive. Over the years, I have learned that my passion lies in early education. I firmly believe in the importance of giving children a quality foundation. At Portsmouth Nursery School, we facilitate whole child development by implementing activities that expand children’s cognitive, social and emotional growth. Children at this age naturally learn through play, curiosity, and exploration. For some, this will be their first experience outside of the home with peers and adults other than their families. It is exciting to pave the way for the growth that happens in pre-school; where they learn patience, taking turns, how to compromise, problem solve, and follow directions. This is when children are learning to be students. I am experienced in fostering these skills into kindergarten-readiness.
Simple games, arts and crafts, and activities such as listening to stories being read aloud, rhyming, puzzles or pretend play are laying the foundation for education and success in children’s first years of school. With a Master of Arts in Teaching from Emmanuel College in Boston, several years experience in various classroom environments, and as a mother of three children, I have dedicated myself to ensuring that Portsmouth Nursery School consistently provides a program with an exceptional reputation for quality care and education. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue this important and valuable work. Under my direction, the Portsmouth Nursery School community and their students will continue to grow, thrive and succeed.
